Xin Chun Seafood Steamboat Restaurant @ Kota Damansara

Steamboat Steamboat!
This is my favourite food of all time...
Why?
Despite all "washing" the chopsticks in the pot of soup... it's because in a way...
It reunite everyone together as one.

For one fine night...
My friend and I was chatting thru MSN saying we were freaking hungry middle of the night...
So we decided to have steamboat in next couple of day but we can't decide where to go...
She suggested us to hunt in Kota Damansara as we know that there's few but not sure which one to choose.

On that day...
She went and hunt over this place...
It's near to RHB bank, if you use the road to go to the GIANT KD you might see this shop which is on your left hand side.

It's quite a bright restaurant too so won't miss it!

For the serving of the steamboat, it's in SET...
They have 2 types which one is seafood set and another one is crab set...
Basically the crab set comes with most balls, beancurd more to those common items and for the seafood set will have whole promfret, prawns, squids...
And each set need to order for minimum 2pax.

dsc015456

For that night we ordered the Seafood Set and I was not sure that it supposed to be served with crab or fish or both...
Hack with it!

[caption id="attachment_510" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Seafood Set"]Seafood Set[/caption]
We were having 4pax orders for 7 of us...
We even ordered pork balls and seafood tofu as side dishes...
We didn't know that the seafood tofu is fried, tasty!!!

For soup we have yin yeung...
Clear Soup and Tom Yum...
[caption id="attachment_509" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Clear Soup vs Tom Yum"]Clear Soup vs Tom Yum[/caption]
Thanks to Ms.Loh.. she chucked the whole bowl of the fried onion oil into the clear soup.

Lastly, we end our meal with NOODLES~~~~
[caption id="attachment_511" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Noodles and Eggs!"]Noodles and Eggs![/caption]

Had a great meal...
And we surely going back there again...

Next week!

$- RM130 (7pax)

Price Range : RM13 (crab set) , RM23 (seafood set) , side dishes different pricing
Good For : Budget yet good to be share!
Bad For : Might need to wait if it's full house!

Chao Yen, 1Utama Shopping Complex @ BU

Teow Chew Restaurant....
As most Chinese community knows that, there's lot of this restaurants around....
However....
For much fine dining style, not much available to cope with the market around.

I've been passed by this restaurant for couple of times...
Did had the eager to try it out...
But hack! ...not really have a chance when most of the time I passed by there with a Malay friend of mine.

However...
I got the chance to try it out with a friend of mine who were pretty sick on Tuesday...
So we went in and well, it's like a library....
Pretty quiet, maybe cos it's about 3pm.

I guess the only think attracts me...
Is the logo....
Not sure why... : )
[caption id="attachment_453" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Menu"]Menu[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_470" align="alignnone" width="225" caption="\"Tattoo on the chair\""]"Tattoo on the chair"[/caption]
Looks attractive to me.

[caption id="attachment_469" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Table Setting"]Table Setting[/caption]

All right...
FOOD!

I was not aware that the items came with drinks...
So we ordered the lo han ko as our drinks...
[caption id="attachment_471" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Lo Han Ko"]Lo Han Ko[/caption]

I ordered the seafood fried rice to share...
[caption id="attachment_472" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Seafood Fried Rice"]Seafood Fried Rice[/caption]
Not too bad though, I guess there's about 6-8pcs of prawns in it!

My friend ordered a pot of porridge...
I was not sure the specific name for it...
It's consist of oysters and pork meatball in it...
[caption id="attachment_475" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Porridge with oyster and meatballs"]Porridge with oyster and meatballs[/caption]
With veges and parsley.

I didn't know the porridge not the style that I like...
It's more like water with rice, not really smashed like serve for baby (I like that... :P)
Really authentic Teow Chew serving.

I think the fried rice included with soup...
[caption id="attachment_476" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Salted Vegetable soup"]Salted Vegetable soup[/caption]
We didn't check the menu properly, but this taste nice!

One thing weird is...
Why do they love to serve bitter gourd?
[caption id="attachment_477" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Bitter Gourd"]Bitter Gourd[/caption]
I do understand that if serve with porridge...
But with fried rice?
Well I nearlly finish the 2 plates...
Seriously, it's nice just that I don't keen with it.

$ - RM46.10

Price Range - RM10 and above
Good For - Quiet authentic meal to have with family or friends
Bad For - Pricey!

Nasi Kandar Changkat Jong @ Teluk Intan

Last day in Teluk Intan....
My friend so wanted to bring us eat "Indian rice" since the first day we were there....
So at last...

For our last lunch there... she brought us to the shop...
It's nasi kandar!

[caption id="attachment_444" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Signage"]Signage[/caption]

Normally...
For nasi kandar stalls...
We will end up line up and get serve by the "ah neh"...
This restaurant, we get our own food!

[caption id="attachment_445" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Self Service"]Self Service[/caption]

Most of the dishes will be place on the tables...
So we just scoop up whatever dishes we want....
[caption id="attachment_446" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Dishes..."]Dishes...[/caption]
Not a bad idea especially for a person who can't take much curry like me!
I can just scoop the amount of the gravy that I can consume...
But the rice was bit less, so for hungry eaters, might want to have extra rice!

For drinks... we don't need to wait someone to get our orders...
Just ready and be grab!
[caption id="attachment_450" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="RM 1 beverages"]RM 1 beverages[/caption]
Best part is, it's just RM1~
We grabbed most were the Teh O Ais Limau...
The tea flavour were strong blends well with the lime, far better than any mamaks!

This are my partner and my "plates"...
[caption id="attachment_448" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Lunch for 2"]Lunch for 2[/caption]
Looks delicious....

However...
The pricing, was pretty surprising.. cos for our friends were far more expensive than ours.

$ - RM10 (included drinks)-for 2pax!

Price Range: Not sure
Good For: Really too good to be bargain!
Bad For: It's pretty hot during noon as it's open air sitting!

Pao Loong Restaurant @ Teluk Intan

Last night in Teluk Intan...
We had our dinner late night as supper.. bout 11pm plus!

My friend brought us to Pao Loong, so called the "old brand" in that place...
My friends prefer the "lady boss" to take the order rather than the lady worker....
Just in a way, for the sake to take order, she just take, that kind of attitude.

My friends ordered the dishes for us....
As we not sure what's the famous food from the restaurant.

First up..
We have stir fried kailan as our vege dish....
[caption id="attachment_434" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Stir Fried Kailan"]Stir Fried Kailan[/caption]

Well, most of the kailan were more on the stalks rather than the leaves...
I don't mind much as I more to the stalks eater.

Salted Egg Mantis...
[caption id="attachment_435" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Salted Egg Mantis"]Salted Egg Mantis[/caption]
Crispy, not that oily...
As mentioned... salty, but good to try it out though!

Of course they even ordered crabs...
Kung Pou Style...
[caption id="attachment_437" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Kung Pou Crabs"]Kung Pou Crabs[/caption]
But it tasted more to curry crabs more than kung pou as can see thru the colour too...
So whether it's curry or kung pou, this is one of the famous dish around the town.

Not to be miss....
[caption id="attachment_433" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Fried Omelet"]Fried Omelet[/caption]

For our meat dish..
We ordered pork ribs @ ku lou yuk...
[caption id="attachment_442" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Ku Lou Yuk (pork ribs)"]Ku Lou Yuk (pork ribs)[/caption]
Even though I'm a sweet taster...
This dish was pretty sweet for me...
Not really keen on this though.

Most of the dishes we had, were about the same the night before we had in Sin Peking....
However, as people says....
Size does matter....
Small restaurant and big restaurant.... pricing will be different.

$ - RM84.00

I prefer Sin Peking.

Price Range: RM4 -depends with the KG
Good For : A try out
Bad For : Seek someone else to take the order....

Anson Chu Cheung Fun @ Teluk Intan

When going over to Teluk Intan....
Everyone must ask the visitors to try on their hometown chu cheung fun.

I personally prefer Penang's Chu cheung fun more than the Hongkong style...
Maybe because I'm used to have that, but still... I just prefer the Penang's one.

So what so different with the Teluk Intan's chu cheung fun?
Its look something like the Hong Kong, but the ingredients much more than the Hong Kong's one....

[caption id="attachment_430" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Anson Chu Cheung Fun"]Anson Chu Cheung Fun[/caption]
Consists of pork, fried onions.... and eat with the green pickled chillis.

Splendid indeed.
Just that it's kind of oily and it caused bit stuffy in the tummy.
Well, I like this vs with the HongKong chu cheung fun!

Should try it out though!

$ - RM4.20

Price Range : RM4.20/packet
Good For: Something new!
Bad For: Oily~

Uncle Lim's Ice Cream Cafe @ Teluk Intan

How often will you go back to your childhood "hangout" places?
My friends took us to a cafe nearby to their high school.

Favour for ice cream?
[caption id="attachment_417" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Signage"]Signage[/caption]

Well, this cafe not only serve ice cream...
They do have western and local food too.

Most of the customers...
Well, more to teenagers as there's few schools nearby.

[caption id="attachment_398" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Menu"]Menu[/caption]

My friend ordered herself a maggi tomyum which cost only RM2....
[caption id="attachment_399" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Maggi Tom Yum"]Maggi Tom Yum[/caption]
She said it's nice....
Well..... maybe? Didn't try that out.

She also ordered the nasi lemak...
The sambal not those malay's sambal....
[caption id="attachment_402" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Nasi Lemak"]Nasi Lemak[/caption]
Still it's good to have for a late lunch!

I go for something lighter....
Ordered chicken salad...
Of course it will be weird to have the combination of HOT and cold...
[caption id="attachment_404" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Chicken Salad"]Chicken Salad[/caption]
The chicken is served fried...
And the salad tasted more like coleslaw...
Taste good though!

We even had club sandwiche...
It's pretty funny cos we can see the hand prints over the bread....
[caption id="attachment_405" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Club sandwich"]Club sandwich[/caption]
Guess we know how many fingers they use to prepare the sandwich?
Served with normal white bread, vege and fried chicken.

A friend of mine ordered this...
[caption id="attachment_403" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Fried chicken wings (4pcs - 2pcs cut half)"]Friend chicken wings (4pcs - 2pcs cut half)[/caption]

It's such a nice moment to dine in a place that my friends used to hang out before....
I can't even recall where did I hang out with my schoolmates back in Penang *sigh*

No worries over the pricing here, it's reasonable enough for the kids!

$ - RM41.20

Price Range : RM2-RM10
Good For : Youngsters, chill out~
Bad For : ...you still can enjoy this place even you feels you are old :P

Fei Lou Chicken/Duck Rice @ Teluk Intan

When people says go to the restaurant/cafe which got lot of people in it....
It's no doubt that place should be nice.

WHO SAYS SO?!

While my partner and I was looking for lunch nearby the place we staying...
We walked over to the shop lots and see what we can find....
There was a line in queue at a coffeeshop....
So we head over there and it's chicken/duck rice stall.
[caption id="attachment_388" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Hong Kong Roast Duck"]Hong Kong Roast Duck[/caption]

We went in and have a look....
[caption id="attachment_389" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Dishes..."]Dishes...[/caption]
They have certain dishes, so we decided to have our lunch over there.

Firstly....
The auntie served each of us a bowl of herbal soup....
Mmmm.. mmmm!!!
Very very the tasy and the aroma splendid!

[caption id="attachment_390" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Herbal Soup"]Herbal Soup[/caption]
I even asked for a refill for it!

I had duck rice...
I requested to have more meat (side) instead of bones...
Well, still..........
Not much meaty to me!
[caption id="attachment_391" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Duck rice"]Duck rice[/caption]
I much more prefer the sauce with the rice rather than the duck!

My partner ordered chicken rice and requested to have the thigh side...
Well, came on breast though~
[caption id="attachment_392" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Chicken Rice"]Chicken Rice[/caption]
It's bit dry and the rice as well, didn't serve with gravy.

I guess the one that appetizing was the assam vege..
[caption id="attachment_393" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Assam vege"]Assam Boey[/caption]
No to sourish, nice to just eat like that or with rice.

Even ordered the siu yuk.....
[caption id="attachment_394" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Siu Yuk"]Siu Yuk[/caption]
Not crispy and even dried.

This dog been sleeping next to my table...

Restaurant Sin Peking @ Teluk Intan

Was away to Teluk Intan on 3rd Jan... reached there about 10pm....
Follow the trip with my partner and 2 friends who were from T.I.

We were looking for our late dinner...
So my friend recommend us to have it at Sin Peking, somewhere behind the market.

From the front view of the restaurant.....
It's more look like a shop, as it's quite tiny for a restaurant!

[caption id="attachment_375" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Restaurant Sin Peking"]Restaurant Sin Peking[/caption]

As my friend mentioned...
"Don't look at the shop so small, but the food it's good"

So we ordered some dishes...

According to my friend, the crabs are nice...
So she ordered Kung Pou Crabs....

[caption id="attachment_376" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Kung Pou Crabs"]Kung Pou Crabs[/caption]

But sadly, the crabs size were way too small....
Good enough, the taste were there and least the crabs there's meat too!

For a not squid luver...
I made an exception....
I so into this dish!

[caption id="attachment_377" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Fried Squids"]Fried Squids[/caption]

They called it fried squid... but hardly see it FRIED....
Just that its fried with baby squids and sauces...
It way too appetizing!

We have our seaweed soup...
Nice aroma and tasty too....

[caption id="attachment_378" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Seaweed Soup"]Seaweed Soup[/caption]
Its just good as if it's been boiled for hours!

We additional ordered the mantis...
Kung pou style...
[caption id="attachment_382" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Kung Pou Mantis"]Kung Pou Mantis[/caption]
The mantis were crunchy as it's served with gravy though...
Splendid...

Friend ordered the fried omelet...
Which included with char siu.. yummy!
[caption id="attachment_380" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Fried Omelet"]Fried Omelet[/caption]

Vege we called for yau mak!
[caption id="attachment_379" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Stir fried yau mak"]Stir fried yau mak[/caption]
Due to one of my friend doesn't take garlic...
So ya..
This vege stir fried without garlic!

One thing which amazed my friend... and myself...
I not sure were I dehydrated or the drink taste good.....
[caption id="attachment_381" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Herbal tea"]Herbal tea[/caption]
I had 3 of this!
But of course...
We know that the drinks.. filled up with ice, and little flow for the water.

Had a full night!

I was guessing with my friends how much our meal were....... wanna guess?

$ - RM71

Price Range: Way cheaper than in KL!
Good For: Good bargain!!!!
Bad For: It's small tiny restaurant, that's why you get cheap food out of it!
